Restorative treatments to assist in the repair of teeth

The repair or the replacement of damaged or missing teeth are considered restorative services by the staff at Apopka Smiles. Preventing future oral health issues and restoring a patient’s natural smile is the goal of any restorative procedure.

These services (crowns, bridges, fillings, implants, and dentures) all fall under the umbrella of restorative services.

A filling is the most common way to treat a cavity that is caused by decay. The decay is removed with a drill and the cavity that is left behind is then packed with a “filling” to protect the rest of the tooth.

Crowns are a cap that is placed over a tooth to protect and strengthen a tooth’s structure.

Implants and bridges are used to replace missing teeth. A bridge has a crown on each end that serves as an anchor or abutment for the artificial tooth or teeth that are filling the space. Implants replace a missing tooth or teeth. A metal anchor is inserted into the jawbone and a false tooth is inserted into the anchor. The false tooth is then topped with a crown.

Patients feel better about their appearance and self-esteem when an empty space in their mouth is filled. Filling the empty space will keep the teeth properly aligned, and make it easier for the patient to maintain good oral health care.
