Dental Bonding

Used by dentists to fill in cracks or gaps in teeth, cover stained or discolored teeth, or fill a cavity after decay has been removed, bonding is a common dental procedure

At our Apopka Smiles office, treatment begins when the affected area of a tooth or teeth is covered with an adhesive gel. A composite resin is then used to fill the cracks or cavities in the tooth or teeth. As the resin hardens with help from a high-intensity lamp, the dentist molds and sculpts the material to match the teeth that surround it. Once the resin hardens, it is polished to give the teeth a fresh appearance.

Bonding is often a more durable solution than traditional silver amalgam fillings, and has increased in popularity because of it. Bonding can last for more than 10 years and is a safe and affordable option for patients. It’s likely that the popularity of bonding as a treatment will only increase as dental technology improves.
