Before Anesthesia

Before receiving anesthesia, these directions should be followed

Patients and the staff at Apopka Smiles will benefit if these protocols are observed:

  • No eating or drinking for at least 8 hours before surgery.
  • No smoking for at least 12 hours prior to surgery.
  • All patients must be accompanied to the procedure by a spouse, partner, family member, friend or neighbor, who will then drive you home after the procedure is completed. Driving is not recommended for at least 24 hours for any patient who receives anesthesia.
  • Daily medications should be reviewed with your dentist, and patients should be sure to take medications on the day of the procedure.
  • Patients should not wear contact lenses, dentures, or jewelry.
